Act 1 is the second section of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 story. This section does not include any missable collectibles.
All collectibles are listed in the general order they can be obtained throughout the story. By following this you will get everything needed for trophies & achievements. There are many other items to pick up such as upgrade Materials for Expedition resources, Pictos, and Outfits, but these aren’t required for any trophies and aren’t listed in this walkthrough.
Note that some areas either do not have trophy/achievement related items or are meant for a much higher level than you are on the first visit, those areas will be listed later in their recommended order. You can and are still recommended to explore areas for Pictos (stat/ability items), Colour of Lumina, and other items. When you encounter Vendors it is recommended to always purchase all available Colour of Lumina first, as they are very important to equip more Lumina abilities on each character.
When you encounter White Nevron (monsters) for quests, make sure to always fully talk to them to receive the reward for completing their quest. This is required to earn the trophy/achievement for the quests, and if you miss fully completing the interaction you won’t receive the trophy/achievement after completing all quests, and will need to manually check each for the one you missed. You have the option of fighting the Nevron after completing their quest, but this is NOT RECOMMENDED as you receive 100 x Colour of Lumina from the final quest if you let them all live outside a specific one in the last second of the game.

Journal #1: Expedition 81 – This journal is automatically obtained after the cutscene when you reach this expedition flag.
Nevron Quest #1: Jar – Interact with the white Nevron by the Expedition Flag and it asks for “light”. Follow the main path into the next area past the bridge (over or under) and there is an enemy on the other side with some boxes behind it. Break the boxes to pick up a Resin. Take this Jar and interact with it to give it the Resin. Once out of the dialogue aim at the top of its staff and shoot it, then speak with it again to receive 1 x Healing Tint Shard and complete the interaction. You can choose to attack Jar after this, but there is a good reward later in the game if you let all Nevron live after dealing with them (outside of one specific Nevron late in the game).

Flying Waters
Expedition Flag – Noco’s Hut
Nevron Quest #2: Demineur – After Maelle joins your party and you exit The Manor, follow the main path into the next open area. Instead of going through the ship as Maelle suggests, follow the path to the right into a tunnel where you can find the Nevron Demineur. Examine it and it is suggested you bring it a Mine.
On the path to the right of it there are round platforms you can jump across, and on the second platform to the right that leads back to the prior area you can pick up an Intact Mine. Bring it back to Demineur to receive the weapon Deminerim for Lune, completing the interaction.
Expedition Flag – Coral Cave
Journal #2: Expedition 68 – This journal is along the main path on the right immediately before you reach the open area with the huge Nevron in the distance. The music changes as you are walking through the corridor where this is picked up.
Key Item: Bourgeon Skin – Just before the next Expedition Flag when you enter the Lumieran Streets area, there is a path to the right with an optional boss. Defeat the boss to receive this item. You can receive this from defeating other Bourgeon in other locations throughout the game if you aren’t able to defeat this one, but you only need it once to complete a Nevron quest and getting more doesn’t do anything.

The Continent
All the following are in the immediately accessible area around the Ancient Sanctuary entrance.
Camp Interaction:
Record #2: Goblu – At a shop West of the entrance to Ancient Sanctuary, purchased for 1,000 Chroma.
Lost Gestral #1 – Near the entrance to Esquie’s Nest, speak to it and offer to let it stay at the camp.
Side Area – The Small Bourgeon
Nevron Quest #3: Bourgeon – Enter the area and underneath the large Bourgeon you can find a small white Bourgeon. Give it the Bourgeon Skin received after defeating the optional boss in Flying Waters. If you weren’t able to beat that optional boss you can defeat other Bourgeon throughout the game and come back here later.
Leave the area and reenter to find it has grown in size. Interact with it, then pick up the Colour of Lumina it drops on the ground behind you. Speak with it once more to complete the interaction.
Journal #3: Expedition 53 – Go down the path left of where Bourgeon was located to find this journal in the corner.
Side Area – Gestral Beach
Gestral Game #1: Obstacle Course – Reach the end of the obstacle course and speak with the Gestral on the final platform. Answer “17” to receive two outfit items and complete the game. Using Lune can be slightly helpful as when running she floats above the ground and won’t be affected by terrain.
Ancient Sanctuary

Expedition Flag – Sanctuary Maze
Journal #4: Expedition 63 – Follow the maze until you progress through the required area where you pass a building on the right with blue lights and a group of statues with brush heads on the left (immediately before the next Expedition Flag). Go through the middle path to the left between the two farthest statues to a lower area where the journal is in the middle. There is also a group of Paint Cage points, and the cage itself is reached by taking the path to the immediate right of this one.

Gestral Village
Expedition Flag – Entrance
Journal #5: Expedition 52 – Go down the left side of the village following the signs pointing to the arena. At the final sign there is a small path to its left leading to this journal.
Record #3: Nocturne pour un masque de tristesse – From the village entrance follow the paths leading right until you reach a path with a “TURN BACK” sign. Go forward to find an entrance to The Manor.
You will be in a kitchen. Inside the kitchen interact with three items to rotate them: the small candlestick on the left table, the middle pan on the right wall, and the statue to the right of this. This opens a hole in the floor you can drop down. Follow the path to the end to find some items, then go back up the stairs to enter the far door to the kitchen.
You can then go through the door on the opposite side of the kitchen to enter the main part of The Manor where you were earlier in the story. Go into the main hall with the long table and there are four wall decorations you can interact with. On the immediate right when you enter.
At the far end of the room on the back of a pillar.
On the left side of the room on the round wall.
On the left side of the room near the fireplace. Once you have interacted with all of the decorations this opens up the hole in the wall beneath the final decoration. Go into this room and break the boxes to pick up the record. You can exit The Manor by going out the front door to return to where you entered in the Gestral Village.
Esquie’s Nest
Expedition Flag – Entrance

Expedition Flag – Francois’ Cave
Journal #6: Expedition 66 – After defeating Francois and returning to Esquie, follow the new path that was opened up to a path back to the entrance. On the right of the path you leave on is a group of tents with the journal in the middle.
The Continent
The following are available in the areas now accessible with Esquie’s terrain traversal ability.
Journal #7: Expedition 62 – At the end of the area north of Gestral Village, behind a breakable area you can pass with Esquie.
Lost Gestral #2 – On the path to the right of the entrance of Stone Wave Cliffs, beat the Bourgeon boss to reach the Lost Gestral just past it on the right. You also receive a Bourgeon Skin for beating the boss.
Side Area – Twilight Quarry
Record #4: Un 33 Decembere a Lumiere – Sitting in the middle of this side area.
Side Area – Ancient Gestral City
Record #5: Lights of the Past – Sitting in the middle of this side area.
Yellow Harvest
Yellow Harvest is a large side area accessible with Esquie’s terrain traversal ability.

Journal #8: Expedition 38 – From the flag drop into the lower area and then go up the ramp on the right. In the area at the top of the ramp the journal is on the ground in the middle.
Journal #9: Expedition 44 – On the ground left of the ramp leading to above journal, near a bunch of bodies.
Expedition Flag – Yellow Spire Wrecks
Journal #10: Expedition 59 – Take the left path from the flag, the journal is on the ground in front of the pillar.
Side Area – Lost Woods
Record #6: Aline’s Greenhouse – Sitting in the middle of this side area, accessible after going through the exit behind the boss in Yellow Harvest.
Stone Wave Cliffs
Expedition Flag – Entrance
Journal #11: Expedition 78 – In the large area with the crystal enemy go to the right (when entering from the flag, left in below image) and there is a rope that leads to an upper level. On the ledge immediately in front after going up the rope.
Journal #12: Expedition 56 – In the next open area after the crystal enemy, the journal is on the left path in front of a statue.
Expedition Flag – Paintress Shrine
Journal #13: Expedition 50 – Follow the path into the next area where it splits, and go down the left path. The journal is on the left beside some bodies.
Expedition Flag – Old Farm
Nevron Quest #4: Hexga – On the main path after the farm area you can spot the white Hexga on the side of the path. Before it will talk to you, it wants three of the shimmering rocks that the normal Hexga have. Keep following the main path into the cave where the next flag is and the crystal locations will be listed below in the Tide Caverns section.
Expedition Flag – Tide Caverns
Key Item: Rock Crystal #1 – Take the rope down into the cave, and you can spot the first crystal on the left where the enemy is walking. Attack it to make the pickup appear.
Key Item: Rock Crystal #2 – Go up the slope in the middle of the room, the second crystal is behind the middle pillar.
Key Item: Rock Crystal #3 – Take the path to the right side of the room where a Rocher holding a white pillar will appear. Defeat it to obtain the final crystal. Take the three crystals back to the Hexga to obtain Pictos: Auto Shell. Speak with it again to complete the interaction.
Expedition Flag – Flooded Buildings
This flag is down the path left immediately before the Basalt Waves flag.
There is a weapon for Lune at the end but no trophy/achievement related collectibles.
Expedition Flag – Basalt Waves
Record #7: Gustave – After the boss and the start of Act 2, come back to the boss room to find this record sitting on the cliff where the scene after the boss fight occurs. There’s an entrance directly back to this area on the north of the cliffs on The Continent instead of going back through the front entrance.
