Eights

Move the pegs into the holes in the centre of the board such that no two numbers joined by lines have a difference of 1.

Objective:

The goal of Eights is to be the first player to discard all of their cards.

Setup:

A standard deck of 52 cards is used. Two to four players can participate. The deck is shuffled and each player is dealt seven cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile. The top card of the draw pile is turned over and placed face up to start the discard pile.

Gameplay:

The player to the left of the dealer goes first. On their turn, a player must play a card that matches either the number or suit of the top card on the discard pile. If the player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, the player may play it immediately. Otherwise, the player's turn ends.

Special Cards:

* Eights: An Eight can be played on any card, regardless of number or suit. After playing an Eight, the player can choose the next suit to be played.

* Twos: A Two forces the next player to draw two cards and skip their turn.

* Aces: Aces can be played on any card, but the player who plays an Ace cannot choose the next suit.

Discarding:

When a player plays a card, it is placed face up on the discard pile. If the discard pile reaches 10 cards, it is shuffled and placed face down to form a new draw pile.

Winning:

The first player to discard all of their cards wins the game. If the draw pile runs out and no player can play a card, the game ends in a draw.
