Cribbage is a classic card game that combines elements of skill, strategy, and luck. It is typically played with two players, although variations exist for three or four players. The game's objective is to score points by forming combinations of cards that meet specific criteria.

Setup

To start a game of cribbage, each player is dealt six cards. The remaining cards form a "crib," which belongs to the dealer. The dealer also cuts the deck and turns the top card face up, which becomes the "starter" card.

Gameplay

Gameplay consists of two phases: pegging and scoring.

Pegging

In the pegging phase, players take turns playing cards from their hands to the "peg board." The peg board is a track with 30 holes, and each player has a peg that they move along the track as they score points.

Cards can be played in pairs or triples, and each combination scores a certain number of points. For example, a pair of Aces scores 2 points, a three of a kind scores 6 points, and a run of three or more cards scores 1 point per card.

Players also score points for "nibs," which are combinations that involve the starter card. For example, if the starter card is a Jack, playing a Jack of the same suit scores 1 point.

Scoring

Once all cards have been played, players score points for the combinations they have formed. The dealer scores points for the crib, and the non-dealer scores points for their hand.

Points are scored for the following combinations:

* Fifteen: A combination of cards that add up to 15.

* Pair: Two cards of the same rank.

* Three of a kind: Three cards of the same rank.

* Four of a kind: Four cards of the same rank.

* Straight: Three or more cards in sequence.

* Flush: Four or more cards of the same suit.

Winning

The first player to reach 121 points wins the game. If both players reach 121 points in the same round, the player with the highest score wins.
