DEAL

Any callbreak player may deal first: subsequently the turn to deal passes to the right.The dealer deals out all the cards, one at a time, face down, so that each callbreak player has 13 cards. The callbreak players pick up their cards and look at them.

BIDDING

Starting with the tash player to dealer's right, and continuing counter-clockwise round the table, ending with the dealer, each tash player calls a number, which must be at least 2. (The maximum sensible call is 12.) This call represents the number of tricks which the tash player undertakes to win.

PLAY

The callbreak player to dealer's right leads to the first trick, and subsequently the winner of each trick leads to the next. Spades are the trump cards in Callbreak.

SCORING

To succeed, a card player must win the number of tricks called, or one more trick than the call. If a card player succeeds, the number called is added to his or her cumulative score. Otherwise the number called is subtracted.

There is no fixed end to the card game. Players continue for as long as they wish, and when the tash game ends the player with the highest score is the winner.

Gameplay:

Callbreak Master is a popular trick-taking card game for four players in two partnerships. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck. The goal of the game is to be the first partnership to reach 500 points by winning tricks.

Dealing:

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 13 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed face down in the center of the table to form the stock.

Bidding:

Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player bids the number of tricks they believe their partnership will take. The minimum bid is 1, and the maximum bid is 13. The total of the two partnership bids is known as the contract.

Playing:

The player to the left of the dealer leads the first trick by playing any card. The other players must follow suit if possible. If they cannot follow suit, they may play any card. The highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless a spade is played, in which case the highest spade wins. The player who wins the trick leads the next trick.

Callbreak:

At any time during the game, a player may call "callbreak." This means that they are breaking the suit of the current trick. Once a player has called callbreak, they may play any card, regardless of the suit. The highest card of any suit wins the trick.

Scoring:

* If a partnership makes their contract, they score 10 points for each trick they bid.

* If a partnership fails to make their contract, they lose 10 points for each trick they bid.

* If a partnership takes more tricks than they bid, they score 1 point for each additional trick.

* If a partnership takes all 13 tricks, they score a "callbreak," which is worth 25 points.

Winning:

The first partnership to reach 500 points wins the game. If both partnerships reach 500 points in the same hand, the partnership with the highest score wins.
