Overview

Conquian is a popular Mexican card game that combines elements of rummy and poker. It is typically played with a standard deck of 40 Spanish cards, but can also be played with a deck of 52 standard playing cards. The objective of the game is to be the first player to meld all of their cards into sets and runs.

Gameplay

The game begins with each player being dealt 10 cards. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the center of the table, forming the stock pile. The top card of the stock pile is turned face up and placed next to it, forming the discard pile.

Players take turns drawing a card from either the stock pile or the discard pile. They must then discard one card face up on the discard pile.

Melding

Players can meld their cards into sets or runs. A set consists of three or four cards of the same rank, while a run consists of three or more cards of the same suit in sequence.

Players can meld their cards at any time during their turn. Once a card has been melded, it cannot be taken back.

Special Cards

There are two special cards in Conquian:

* Joker: The joker can be used to represent any card in a set or run.

* Conquian: The conquian is a wild card that can be used to represent any card in a set or run.

Scoring

The first player to meld all of their cards wins the game. If a player cannot meld all of their cards before the stock pile is exhausted, they lose the game.

The winner of the game scores points based on the cards they melded:

* Set of three: 1 point

* Set of four: 2 points

* Run of three: 3 points

* Run of four: 4 points

* Run of five: 5 points

* Joker: 5 points

* Conquian: 10 points

Variations

There are many variations of Conquian, including:

* Conquian Sin Falta: In this variation, players must meld all of their cards in one turn.

* Conquian de Mano: In this variation, players are dealt 12 cards instead of 10.

* Conquian de Pie: In this variation, players stand up when they meld their cards.

Strategy

There are a number of strategies that can help players win at Conquian, including:

* Draw from the stock pile: It is generally better to draw from the stock pile than the discard pile, as there is a greater chance of drawing a card that you can use.

* Meld your cards early: The sooner you meld your cards, the less likely you are to be blocked by other players.
