In addition to class level experience, there is Hardware Mastery XP, a progression system designed specifically for Battlefield 6's weapons and vehicles. Like class XP, performing actions such as kills in the game will reward hardware XP for the specific weapon or vehicle you are using, as each weapon and vehicle has its own hardware XP path, as well as its own functional and cosmetic unlocks.
For example, killing an enemy with an M4A1 Carbine will grant both M4A1 career level experience and hardware experience. At the same time, using a main battle tank to kill a main battle tank can obtain both professional level experience points and main battle tank-specific hardware experience points.
Weapon Progress Unlocks
Leveling up a weapon unlocks additional accessories for that weapon. Outside of the melee tools (sorry, there's no bipod on the knife...yet), each weapon has its own list of attachment unlocks, which are displayed when that weapon is customized with attachment points.
During each weapon's progression journey, you'll also unlock weapon packs, which are pre-made weapon configurations with unique designs and pre-arranged attachment settings, as well as camouflage weapon skins that can be applied to any primary or secondary weapon.
Vehicle progression to unlock and master
Leveling up a vehicle unlocks additional equipment for that vehicle, such as on-board weapons and equipment. Similar to infantry equipment, each vehicle equipped with customizable equipment can be edited in the equipment menu (before selecting the multiplayer experience and finding a match).
As you progress through each vehicle's journey, you'll also unlock skins (unique to each vehicle type) and camos (which can be applied to all customizable vehicles).
