Ghost of Yotei contains 5 Melee Weapon locations. Finding all Melee Weapons unlocks the Tools of a Warrior trophy.
All Melee Weapons are unlocked from quests. 3 are automatic story unlocks and the remaining 2 come from optional sensei tales. Each weapon is strong against certain enemy types, so it’s good to get all weapons as early as possible. Especially when playing on higher difficulties this is beneficial. You can also upgrade the weapons at your Father’s Forge in your home, then they deal more damage.
Katana is strong against Katanas, Dual Katana is strong against spears, Odachi is strong against brutes, Yari is strong against sickles, Kusarigama is strong against shields.
Nothing is missable, everything can still be done after the story in free-roam.

Complete Sensei Tale: The Way of the Yari.
5 – Kusarigama
