Ghost of Yotei contains 5 Mountain Reliquary Puzzle locations. Finding and solving all Mountain Reliquary Puzzles unlocks the Child of the Mountain trophy, and also the fully upgraded Charm of Mount Yotei (reduces all damage taken), Yotei’s Shelter Hat, Yotei’s Mercy Mask, and Yotei’s Blessing Weapon Kit.
Mountain Reliquaries are stone pillars that get marked on the map when you go near them. Each of them is surrounded by 4 fox statues that you can spin. The puzzle instructions can be found on the reliquary pillar. To solve the puzzle, you must spin the fox statues to face in a certain direction as indicated by the puzzle. There’s one Reliquary in each main region. You gain access to all regions from story progress.
Nothing is missable, everything can still be done after the story in free-roam.
Collectibles Overview:
- Ghost of Yotei Collectible Guide
1 – Reliquary of Courage
Location: Yotei Grasslands
Puzzle: A boy was lost and alone. But wolves came from every corner to guide him. Their eyes gazing at the true Mount Yotei.
Solution: Spin the 4 fox statues to face Mount Yotei to the west. Around the reliquary stone you find 4 fox statues you can spin: one in front, one behind, one left, one right. They must all face the same direction. Mount Yotei is the tall mountain with the snowy peak in front of the reliquary.
2 – Reliquary of Strength
Location: Ishikari Plain
Puzzle: The mountain raised the boy as her own. Demons looked away from them in fear. But the wolf watched them both, ready to provide aid.
Solution: The 3 statues with red demon masks must face away from the shrine toward the fire underneath. The fox without a mask must face toward the reliquary pillar. What makes this a little bit annoying is that turning one statue always turns a second one. So you must sync them up until all of them are in the correct position. Make a save before interacting with the statue for the first time. The easiest method is to not touch the unmasked fox statue at all, only spin the 3 demon mask statues.
If you haven’t interacted with the statues yet, the quickest solution is:
- spin front left statue once
- spin back left statue twice
- spin front left statue once
- spin front right statue twice
3 – Reliquary of Resilience
Location: Tokachi Range
Puzzle: Within the caverns of Mount Yotei, a lost boy surrendered to a tired sleep. The wolves stood guard. Looking toward the mountain.
Solution: All 4 foxes must face towards the reliquary pillar in the middle. Not toward Mount Yotei in the distance. Just like the previous puzzle it always moves 2 statues at a time. Again make a save before interacting.
If you haven’t interacted with the statues yet, the quickest solution is:
- spin front left statue once
- back left statue twice
- front left statue once
- front right statue twice
- back right statue twice
4 – Reliquary of Compassion
Location: Teshio Ridge > go up the Chilled Peak Shrine, the path starts in the north-west edge of Teshio Ridge. Once you reach the frozen lake on the mountain top, take the left path and squeeze through a gap to find this. Just slightly before praying at the shrine at the summit.
Puzzle: The mountain took pity on the boy with no home. And lit her fire to keep the boy warm. The wolves gathered around, eyes on the mountain’s hearth.
Solution: First, you must shoot fire arrows at the base of the 4 fox statues to make the snow melt away. There are fire arrows directly in front of the reliquary pillar, at the gap you squeeze through to get there. Just shoot these at the coals below the statues. You need the upgraded Hankyu Bow to shoot fire arrows. You can buy the bow and upgrade it at Ran the Bowyer in Red Crane Inn.
Next, you must spin the 4 fox statues to face the reliquary pillar in the middle. Save before interacting so you can reset it if needed.
If you haven’t interacted with the statues yet, the quickest solution is:
- spin front left statue once
- back left statue twice
- front left statue once
- front right statue twice
- back right statue twice
5 – Reliquary of Faith
Location: Oshima Coast
Puzzle: The boy-made-man crafted blessings of his own. So others born under Mount Yotei will look to the true mountain for strength.
Solution: Spin all 4 foxes to face forward to Mount Yotei in the distance (facing north-east), facing in the direction of the cliff where the far-away fox statue is. You can’t reach the fox statue on the cliff, but it will spin when you interact with the other foxes.
As usual make a manual save beforehand so you can reset the puzzle.
If you haven’t interacted with the statues yet, the quickest solution is:
- Spin middle statue once
- Right statue once
- Middle statue twice
