Droning On is a side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Droning On Side Quest.
- Starting Location: The Fadefields > Idolator’s Noose
- Quest Giver: C.H.A.D. (drone)
- Unlock Requirement: Finished Side Mission Carried Away
- Reward: Money, XP
- Quest Description: These ARE the drones you’re looking for.

- Free surveyor drone
- Take surveyor to its target
Starting Location: Droning On
After completing the first drone-related Side Mission Carried Away, it will spawn two follow-up missions Droning On and Drone Ranger.
Droning On is found along the coastline in the south-west of Idolator’s Noose region. At the top of a wooden building, interact with the blue glowing drone.
Free surveyor drone
The drone will glow red. Shoot it so it falls down.
Take surveyor to its target
Pick up the drone. You need to carry it to the quest marker 400 meters down the coastline. Proceed on foot, as using a vehicle would drop the drone. If you drop it by accident you can pick it up again.
At the marked location you must place the drone on a pile of fish. The drone drops some items and the quest completes a few seconds later.
This finishes Droning On side mission in Borderlands 4. If you haven’t already, complete Drone Ranger to finish the drone questline.
