Borderlands 4 Down and Outbound Walkthrough

Down and Outbound is the 3rd main mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Down and Outbound Main Quest.

• Starting Location: Kairos > The Fadefields > Abandoned Post
• Quest Giver: Claptrap
• Unlock Requirement: having finished Main Quest 2: Recruitment Drive
• Recommended Level: 3
• Reward: XP, Money, Eridium, Rare Assault Rifle & Digital Frontier Vault Hunter Style
• Quest Description: After escaping prison and leaving Claptrap behind, it’s time to meet the Outbounders and add more allies to your cause – that is, if they’re still alive when you get there.

Objectives:

1. Travel to Outbounders HQ
2. Kill Order forces
3. Meet Rush
4. Meet Conway
5. Scan vehicle
6. Reach Order surveillance center
7. Reach Spymaster & Optional Objective: Recover Order contraband
8. Kill Spymaster
9. Take Spymaster’s bolt
10. Collect bolt scanner parts

Starting Location: Down and Outbound

Travel to Outbounders HQ

From Claptrap’s home, follow the quest marker to the Outbounders HQ.

Kill Order forces

Once you arrive at the HQ, kill all enemies here.

Meet Rush

After killing all enemies, follow the marker downstairs into the HQ and follow the path inside to reach Rush, which will trigger a cutscene.

Meet Conway

Leave the HQ to meet Conway outside.

Scan vehicle

To scan the vehicle, just interact with it.

Reach Order surveillance center

Now that you have a vehicle, use it to reach the surveillance center.

Reach Spymaster & Optional Objective: Recover Order contraband

Once you reach the center, head upstairs.

You will reach an area with enemies, you can either kill them or run past them.

After the area, go into the building to the left before going upstairs to find the contraband for the optional objective.

Then move further and use the grappling hook to get up the wall. You will reach another area full of enemies after.

For the second contraband for the optional objective, enter the building at the end of the area on the left side and head upstairs to find it.

Then leave the building through the balcony nearby, turn left, and jump over the gap. Follow the way to reach the main building.

Follow the way inside, kill or run past the enemies, and climb up the ladder at the end.

Make your way through the building, and you will reach some stairs soon.

After walking up the stairs, turn left, which is before you reach two vending machines, to find the last contraband for the optional objective.

Then head upstairs and jump down the hole next to the two vending machines to find the Spymaster.

Kill Spymaster

Now just kill the Spymaster. Be aware that after you take down his shield, he will be in an immune phase where you can’t hurt him.

Take Spymaster’s bolt

After killing the Spymaster, pick up the bolt from where he died.

Collect bolt scanner parts

Now follow the quest marker to an enemy camp nearby. Here, you have to collect three scanner parts.

The first part is near the entrance of the camp.

Head further into the camp and you will find the second part. You can’t miss it.

Now, behind the second part, jump over to a small cave to find the third part.

Return to Outbounders HQ

After collecting all three parts, you will be teleported to the HQ. Climb up the ladder here and talk to Conway.

Install scanner parts

Now, interact with the terminal nearby to install the scanner parts.

Scan Spymaster’s bolt

Then interact with the terminal once again to scan the bolt.

This finishes Down and Outbound in Borderlands 4.
