Zhenwu Altar is the 8th shrine in Mt. Zhenwu region. This guide series covers all trophy/achievement relevant items, collectibles, NPC questlines, and bosses to get Platinum & 1000 Gamerscore in one playthrough. There are other non-unique items, all of which can be bought from merchants later in the game (consumables, feathers for weapon upgrades, armor dropped by enemies), and benedictions which aren’t relevant for trophies. Everything becomes missable as the story progresses, especially NPC interactions must be done at the earliest opportunity. This guide is intended for use during the story, if doing anything out of order it can fail questlines and their associated rewards.

How to reach Zhenwu Altar: appears in the boss arena after defeating “Fierce Tiger”.
Mt. Zhenwu – Zhenwu Altar
NPC: Huang Jian’e (+ Armor Set: Zhenwu Robes + Zhenwu Bracers + Zhenwu Sandals + Half Vitalitus Pill)
If you interacted with her at every opportunity and called her to the boss fight using the bone whistle, she will be on the ground in front of the burnt house. After talking to her, rest at the shrine and she will have left a yellow item. This unlocks her full armor set as a reward for finishing her questline.
NPC: Storyteller [IMPORTANT POINT OF NO RETURN – DON’T TALK TO HIM YET!!!]
In the boss arena go through the now open doorway left of where you entered. Follow the path to a cave where he is sitting between an Aurum Bird and an empty shrine.
IGNORE him for now, don’t interact with the Storyteller yet!
If you were to say “Continue forward” > “I press onward” he will teleport you to the 4th region which locks you out of returning to the 1st region, and it changes the story progression and may break NPC questlines. As a precaution, feel free to back up your save at this point. We will clean up the 3rd region fully before talking to the Storyteller to start the 4th region.
NPC: Nian Suichang
After the boss, standing by the fire with the storyteller. Speak with him twice to receive 3 x Special Pills.
Everything after here is possibly missable if you say yes to the Storyteller twice instead of ignoring him!
NPC: Panda
Down the path left of the cave entrance.
Red Mercury Essence + Spell: Heavenly Thunder
In the cave stick to the right and you can climb up some ladders to a side path (right before the wooden bridge). At the end of the path is a red-eyed enemy, and the spell on the ground in the pile of gold.
Shrine: Mt. Zhenwu – Ferry Overlook
On the main path once you exit the cave.
