There are a total of 20 Bamboozlings in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. For the Bamboozling Return trophy & achievement, you must defeat all of them in a single playthrough.
Bamboozlings are little yellow minions that appear on the path and run away from you, then they quickly dig into the ground and disappear. Each of them drops a Bamboo Shoot, a special currency that can be traded to the Panda merchant for rewards.
If you miss a Bamboozling, you must rest at a shrine to make it respawn. An easy method is to shoot a spell at the Bamboozling, or dodge forward and stab it with a one-handed sword.
To unlock the trophy you must get all 20 in a single playthrough! You can’t get only 10 in one playthrough and then another 10 in New Game+.
The trophy is known to be a little glitchy for some players. If it doesn’t unlock after defeating the 20th Bamboozling, you will need to go into New Game+ and defeat them again. For me it unlocked after the 5th Bamboozling in New Game+ despite having defeated all 20 on the first playthrough. It can unlock a little sooner or later than that, so just speedrun NG+ and defeat them again until the trophy unlocks.
To get all collectible types and trophies in one playthrough, follow our guide by area:

Worship’s Rise – Lightzen Temple
Bamboozling #1
After defeating the boss “Master Raider – Man-eating Dhutanga” at Lightzen Temple, you will get the Lightzen Temple Key. Use the key on the gate across from the shrine, follow the path and you’ll see a Bamboozling running away, quickly kill him to receive this item. If he disappears you can rest at the shrine to respawn him.
Bamboozling #2
From the first Bamboozling follow the path over the river. When you reach a staircase, follow the path on the right side where a house is. Keep following the path, when you reach a stone bridge don’t go over it and instead keep heading straight. This leads to a Bamboozling running towards a cave entrance. If he runs away, drop yourself into the river to revive at the shrine and come back. In the same cave towards which the Bamboozlings runs you find the Panda merchant, you can trade the Bamboo Shoots to him. Later he spawns in different locations throughout the game.
Worship’s Rise – Shu Sanctum
Bamboozling #3
From Shu Sanctum shrine, turn around 180°, leave the building and go down the stairs. Go over the invisible bridge on the right (indicated by green/yellow orbs). Then turn left and go down the path along the river until you reach a bamboo forest. Go up the right path, it leads to a bigger village where a big enemy rolls a rock at you. To the right of that big enemy go on the roof and up the ladder. Go across the rooftop and down the ladder on the other end, you’ll reach a fire bird enemy. Take the left path and open the door into the second building. This leads to the Bamboozling at the dead-end in the courtyard behind the building. Watch for the enemies that will appear.
Worship’s Rise – Mercury Workshop
Bamboozling #4
To the left of the Mercury Workshop shrine, go onto the red tree and take the left path, go forward just a few meters/yards and stick to the left edge of the path. Look down the left side and you’ll see another path below, drop down there. Then go forward into a cave opening. At the end of the cave go up the ladder, then through a room with spike floor traps. After this room you step onto the red tree again (you’ll be on the top floor now). Take the right path and at the very top will be the bamboozling, before entering a corridor with more floor spike traps. On the top level of the tree you also find the next pendant.
Worship’s Rise – Doomwillow Beach
Bamboozling #5
From Doomwillow Beach shrine turn around 180°, then take the path that’s in front of you and slightly to the left. Follow that path, it leads to a big blood puddle, there go left and follow the path all the way past a tree that attacks you until you can climb a ladder. This leads to a pillar you can knock down to create a shortcut. Go over it to reach the Red-Clad Lady. Go down the path behind her. At the bottom of the path, go right to find this Bamboozling at the dead-end. Watch out for the undead crawler enemies.
Worship’s Rise – Palace Hill
Bamboozling #6
On the path to the left of the Palace Hill shrine.
Cloudspire – Cloudspire Outskirts
Bamboozling #7
In the area with the third corruption pillar (the red blocks that spawn exploding enemies) you can find a Bamboozling. Between the shortcut gate from Cloudspire Outskirts shrine to the next boss “Ming General – Liu Cheng’en”. On the snowy path leading to the big wooden drawbridge.
Cloudspire – Rebel Camp
Bamboozling #8
To the left of Rebel Camp shrine go down the short ladder, there will be two soldiers behind cannons. In front of the cannons on the left you see an elevator. The bamboozling will be directly in front of this elevator, between two mine traps. If you come from the elevator the Bamboozling will likely be killed by the explosion from the mines or cannons.
Cloudspire – Snowfall Palace
Bamboozling #9
From Snowfall Palace shrine look at the big staircase, to the left of it enter the dead-end to find this.
Cloudspire – Shaft Entrance
Bamboozling #10
Shortly after Shaft Entrance Shrine, drop off the right side of the path where the swinging clubs are, then follow this until you reach the large spider enemy that shoots corruption. It spawns in front of this enemy.
Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Marsh
Bamboozling #11
Follow the main path past where you can kick down a shortcut ladder to the shrine. Then after a big walking bird enemy, go on the path going slightly up to find an Aurum Bird (killable bird that makes noise) with a burned nest next to it that contains an item. Picking the item from the nest drops you to the lower level. On this path after you drop down is the Bamboozling. Have a magic spell ready to shoot it fast.
If you fail to catch the Bamboozling, the branch where you drop down will be gone when you respawn at the shrine. It can be tricky to relocate it. If you miss it, save the last minutes of gameplay using PS Capture to retrace your pathing where to drop down exactly. If starting at the shrine, go up the ladder shortcut, turn right, go past the big walking bird enemy, go straight where the path leads up, there will be a bird on the left side and a corpse on the ground. Drop down the immediate right of the Aurum Bird/corpse, this is where the branch was. You can also see a nest down the right of this path, which is where you must land. An invisible bridge (indicated by yellow/green orbs) is also in that area, but it doesn’t lead to anything important.
Bamboozling #12
Advance through Avian Marsh until you go through an area where Despair status (red instakill debuff) builds up on you. After exiting the Despair area you go through a little tree village. After this, there will be a shortcut ladder on the left (leading back down to the shrine), but ignore this ladder. Follow the left path past the ladder to reach a hollow tree with another ladder in it, climb up. This leads to an area with two scared human enemies who won’t attack you. To the left of them over a little tree-bridge is the bamboozling. Have magic ready to shoot it. Also to the right of the scared humans is a tree shortcut you can kick down to Avian Dwelling shrine. If you come from Avian Dwelling over the tree shortcut then the bamboozling would be straight in front of you running over the bridge (this path is shorter if it ran away and you want to respawn it).
Mt. Zhenwu – Zhenwu Antechamber
Bamboozling #13
The door behind the Zhenwu Antechamber shrine will be locked initially. From the shrine, turn around and go down the first set of stairs. Then go through the temple to your left to reach the temple on the right, there you must climb the ladder to the rooftop. Leave the rooftop over the bridge. The Bamboozling runs away immediately to the right when you crossed the bridge and 2 cannons shoot at you. He will run towards the cannons, dodge the cannon balls and quickly hit him. A one-handed sword is good to stab him with a quick attack.
Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Shu Sanctum
Bamboozling #14
Worship’s Rise in Ruins is the 4th region, reached after Mt. Zhenwu. This is different than the 1st region Worship’s Rise, but you’ll find Shu Sanctum shrine in the same spot. From Shu Sanctum shrine go up one floor and then over the bridge from the temple roof. Go right, up the path where an enemy rolls a rock at you. Keep going straight all the way up the path until you reach the hilltop. There you must go over the invisible bridge (indicated by green/yellow orbs). On the other side of the bridge you will find the Bamboozling, running towards the next shrine “Annalum Courtyard”. If you already unlocked that shrine, then simply turn around from it to find the Bamboozling before the bridge.
Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Palace Vegetable Garden
How to reach Palace Vegetable Garden: From Shu Sanctum shrine go up one floor and then over the bridge from the temple roof. Go right, up the path where an enemy rolls a rock at you, then go down the right path. This leads to the palace area. When you reach a big enemy and a glowing statue, go up the path to the left behind the statue to reach a Benediction Gate that leads to this shrine.
Bamboozling #15
Continue through the palace out the back where big monsters are fighting and into the forest. The Bamboozling appears just at the edge of the red pond where the forest area starts.
Bamboozling #16
From the previous Bamboozling, continue following the path and this Bamboozling will appear on the top of the red vine bridge. It’ll be on your main path through this area so you basically can’t miss it. If you don’t kill it fast enough, proceed to the next shrine (Palace Pass) and return from there, it’s nearby.
Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Reverent Temple
Bamboozling #17
From Reverent Temple shrine, go downstairs and in the courtyard go out the gate to backtrack to the Bamboo Forest from where you reached the shrine. In the Bamboo Forest go up the path, the Bamboozling starts running away toward the two enemies fighting.
5th region collectibles will be revealed soon.
That’s all of the Bamboozlings and will unlock the Bamboozling Return trophy/achievement. If the trophy glitches on you, do a New Game+ speedrun and defeat them again, it should pop between the 5th-7th Bamboozling.
