Chiaroscuro is the 3rd DLC quest in the Brushes With Death expansion of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Chiaroscuro DLC quest.

- Requirement: Own Brushes With Death DLC and finished Source of Inspiration
- Reward: Gemstone silver ring & Reputation
- Quest Type: Side Quest
- Quest Description: Things are never quite black and white with Voyta, but that may just have changed. He’s missing a binder for his paint and has asked me to find him a basilisk egg. Apparently, its yolk has magical properties.

Starting Location: Chiaroscuro
After the previous quest Source of Inspiration, you can either talk to the painter again immediately to start this new quest, or skip time for 24 hours and visit him in Trosky Castle.
Find the egg of a black cockerel
Go to Semine, put on a high charisma outfit and make a save. Then talk to Farmer Slavek who will be marked. You’ll need to pass a skill check to get more info from him (can reload save if it fails).
Say “They say you’ve got a black cockerel” > win the skill check, they are all easy to succeed (“I’m here on orders from the Lords of Trosky” is easiest with high charisma outfit) > “Did the cockerel lay eggs?” > “Did you keep any of its eggs?”.
The farmer will reveal that he did have a black cockerel and one morning found it sitting on eggs. He didn’t keep the eggs, the black cockerel died and he put its corpse in a dung heap by the edge of the woods. It will be marked a few steps to the south, at the bend in the road leading to the horse trader.
You must pick up the “Rooster’s egg” inside the dung heap, next to the black cockerel. This completes the objective.
You may run into two wild dogs, if you’re going for 
Lent you can simply grab the egg and ride away, or kick them in unarmed combat.
Find a place to put the egg / Place the cockerel egg in the nest
Go to the “B” objective marker, slightly west of Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. There will be a yellow search area. You must go to the little island in the south-east part of the search area, where 4 broken trees stick out. On the map the island also has a broken tree sticking out of it. Turn up the sound so you can hear the toads, the louder they get the closer you are. It doesn’t matter if you come at day or night.
When you are close enough an 
/ 
prompt will appear to “Investigate”. After holding the button to investigate, it will zoom in on one of the broken trees and updates the objective. The exact spot is below one of the broken trees, interact with it to place the egg:
Wait until the toads brood the egg
You will have to leave the swamp area, far enough where the objective shows up again at the top of the screen and you can’t hear the toads anymore. Easiest option is to walk up the hill to Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. Then skip time for 24 hours and the objective should immediately update (if not you’re still too close to the egg, or must skip time again). You can rent a bed at the inn if you like.
Collect the basilisk egg from the nest
Return to the same spot where you placed the egg and pick it up from the dirt under the tree, it will be marked.
Deliver the egg
Return to the painter in Trosky Castle. Talk to him to finish the quest, he gives you his Gemstone silver ring.
Afterward pick these dialogues to gain reputation and exhaust all questions: “Thank you” > “What do you expect from this paint?” (will succeed at 20 Scholarship) > “Why is your head a mess?” > “You don’t just want to stay here for free, do you?” > “What do you need to finish?”.
