Lost gestrals are missing gestrals in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. They’re “collectibles” of sorts — insofar as a little-explained little guys can be collectibles — and finding them all give you rewards.
Here’s where to find all lost gestrals in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, plus details about what rewards you’ll get for doing so.

All lost gestral rewards in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
After finding any lost gestral, talk to Sastro — he’s located in the alcove of your camp that’s not the one the Curator posts up in — and he’ll provide you with rewards.
Which reward you get is contingent on how many lost gestrals you’ve returned by that point. Note that it doesn’t matter the order you find the missing Gestrals in — for convenience’s sake, in the table below, we’ve ordered the corresponding rewards assuming you grab each lost gestral in an order corresponding to how you’d come across them in the main story.
It’s also worth noting that you should try to find four of them as soon as possible, as the reward grants the party the Paint Break ability, which destroys paint spikes in dungeons, opening up new pathways to discover more challenges and rare items.
After finding lost gestrals, set up camp and talk to Sastro. He’ll give you the corresponding rewards based on how many you’ve found. Finding all nine lost lost gestrals also unlocks the Lost Gestrals trophy/achievement.
Where to find all lost gestrals in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The nine missing gestrals are located around Expedition 33’s world. All lost gestrals are hidden on the overworld map itself, so while they’re near particular dungeons, you don’t have to burn time navigating (and getting lost in) any dungeons. However, you’ll need to unlock all of Esquie’s abilities, including swimming and flying, to get all nine lost gestrals.
Below, we’ll show you where to find each lost gestral.
Lost gestral #1 (Esquie’s Nest)
This is the first lost gestral you’ll come across, right in front of Esquie’s Nest. It’s required for story progression so you likely won’t miss this one at all.
Lost gestral #2 (Stone Wave Cliffs)
This next lost gestral is near the Stone Wave Cliffs. Instead of going into the Stone Wave Cliffs, take a detour to the right and you’ll find the lost gestral hanging out at the end of the path. There’s a giant enemy in the way right before it, though, so be careful and try to maneuver around it — or try your luck at the fight.
Lost gestral #3 (White Tree)
Once you start act two, Esquie will gain the ability to swim. On an island to the east of the Yellow Harvest, you’ll find the next lost gestral near a dungeon called White Tree.
Lost gestral #4 (Monoco’s Station)
Once you’ve completed the Forgotten Battlefield dungeon, you’ll find a lost gestral outside of Monoco’s Station. It’s standing between two trees and can be hard to spot.
Lost gestral #5 (Coastal Cave)
From the location of lost gestral #4, swim over to the east and you’ll come across an island with the Coastal Cave dungeon. You’ll find another lost gestral toward the back where a bunch of field enemies are.
Lost gestral #6 (Red Island)
Southwest of Visages, there’s another red island Esquie can swim to. You can find the lost gestral there in front of several face statues. There are also two mime enemies nearby, so watch out!
Lost gestral #7 (The Reacher)
When you make it to act three, Esquie will gain the ability to fly. Fly to the northeast area right above the Reacher filled with trees. The next lost gestral is near a log, and there will be a merchant nearby as well.
Lost gestral #8 (Endless Night Sanctuary)
This next one is near the Endless Night Sanctuary dungeon. Esquie’s flight ability is mandatory here, as this area is completely surrounded by hills. On the far east side of the map, you’ll come across a red forest area. In front of the dungeon entrance, the next lost gestral is standing in between some trees.
Lost gestral #9 (Endless Tower)
The final lost gestral is on a floating island right outside of the Endless Tower. Simply have Esquie fly up and you should be able to spot it.
