Guests do not gain knowledge directly from the exhibits, but learn through information boards. The dashboard provides all guests who read it with knowledge values equal to the total knowledge scores for all exhibits within their range.
Most exhibits have an initial knowledge score of 1, and the only way to improve this value is to find more of the same exhibits and conduct research in the analysis room. Once you have built the analysis room, drag the exhibits you want to analyze into the destructor. Experts with relevant expertise will take the time to study the item; when they are finished, the knowledge scores for all current and future copies of the exhibit will be permanently increased by 1 point until the maximum value is reached.
Analyzing the exhibit will permanently destroy it, so be sure to use a lower quality copy, or a copy that is about to be destroyed due to improper maintenance.
Enlightenment and Privileges
Every time you analyze an item, you will get a little enlightenment on the subject of that item. This will unlock a new ornament related to the item's theme; there are many items to unlock, so don't be afraid to send an expedition just to analyze and destroy artifacts.
Occasionally, the analytical item will also reward you with a privilege. Cleaners can install privileges on exhibits and equipment in museums to make them more efficient and effective. Each privilege can only be used once and will become a permanent feature of the item after installation.
Analyzing or selling items with privileges will result in you losing that privilege.
