There are many weird monsters in "R.E.P.O.", and Runner is one of the more unique ones. This monster walks very uniquely (sounds like hay is moving around). They have poor eyesight and most of the time they squat seem to work, but don't try your luck unless you have to.

Behavior: Their walking steps are very unique (sounds like hay is moving around). They have poor vision: squatting seems to work most of the time, but don't try your luck unless you have to. They were completely deaf and could not hear the players next to them talking, sprinting or jumping loudly. However, when they see the player, they start waving their arms and running towards the player. They aren't actually that fast, and they have minimal object persistence. Although they are deaf ears to most things, they can detect the player's gravity beam, so avoid picking up nearby things.
Tip: Don't hide immediately, because they will find you under the table. Instead, just run away, turn a corner, and hide. Sometimes you don't even need to do the latter. They are just that stupid. Predictable walking modes make them easy to be targeted for your melee weapons and anesthesia gun. If you want to test your combat skills, this is what you are going to. However, know that their whip may knock out what’s in your hand, so know when to hit it. Fair Warning: While their heads are full of sawdust, they do cause considerable damage and can cut off your hp (100-0) in about 2 seconds.
