So we'll be looking for goldfish here, but you can try other areas if you prefer.
According to Kanya and the mission itself, goldfish like to stay in cool, dark places, which means caves. There are many caves in the Scarlet Forest, and the most stable and easiest to reach is the Woodwood Hidden Place located in District 12, just south. Just walk south and enter the cave behind the waterfall.
Best Goldfish Bad
At the beginning of the game, you only have one piece of bait, i.e. regular wooden trout. This bait is great for attracting a variety of fish, although it may be slower if you want to attract specific fish. That's why Kanya gave you two other pieces of bait in this mission - the Golden Bug Head and the Jade Shaking Bad.
Today we will use the former, the golden bug head. Simply hold L1/LB and stick the rod out and roll to it like you would switch the bow and arrow coating. Then aim and drop your line. Goldfish are not too picky about bait, and once the bait is approaching them, they will rush over almost immediately.
During the fishing process, you may also catch some small golden fish. While these aren't what you need, the materials they drop can also be sold.
