How to heal and restore health in Dragon Age 4

Combat is an important part of the Dragon Age: Shadowkeep experience, and it's important to understand what options you have when it comes to healing your character's injuries. There are three main ways to achieve this; using potions, skills, or companion skills.

How to use potion treatment

The easiest way to heal your character in Dragon Age: Shadowkeep is to use potions. By default, potions can be used at any time by pressing the right button on the D-Pad on console or the R key on PC. Rook will have a limited number of potions, which you can track in the lower left corner of the screen, alongside the health bar.

How to use skill healing

In addition to potions, players can also heal their wounds by using Rook's skills. Depending on the skills you level up and as your character works towards reaching the highest levels of the game, there are opportunities to apply healing skills that are consumed like potions, but with the ability to recharge. This option is more accessible to players who choose Mage as their profession.

How to use companion skills to heal

Depending on the skills you use to improve your relationship with each companion in Veil Keepers, most potential party members will have access to some skill that restores your health when other options are exhausted. These skills will take the form of soothing potions and replenishing skills.

For example, the likes of Nivi, Belala, and Emmerich can use the former, while Hardin or Lucanis can add complementary abilities to their arsenal. To use them, simply open the skill's quick select menu (R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox) and select the Soothing Potion/Replenishment option, both of which have an easy-to-recognize heart symbol and a green color.

This is only possible if you have assigned the skill to your companion. If you can't find them, simply open the character menu, navigate between the character tabs until you find the companion you want to assign a skill to, and assign it to one of the skill slots.
