How to complete the Shadow of Minrathos quest in Dragon Age, Shadow Barrier Guardian

Shadows of Minrasus lets you explore the inner workings of Minrasus' dark side without sounding as disgusting as it is. This quest in Dragon Age: Shadowkeep focuses on making first contact with the shadow dragons and learning more about the difficulties they face in Dock City.

This mission requires bringing Neveu along to progress the narrative, and unsurprisingly her cold damage is very useful against the Venatorians. We also recommend having Hardin trigger the detonation effect, as several enemies will be resistant to Lucanis' undead attacks. After solving these problems, you need to go to the quest marker and meet Viper to start this quest.

What to buy from Shadow Dragon

When the quest begins, simply follow the quest marker through the Shadow Dragon's lair and enjoy the scenery. You'll see a Shadow Dragon merchant, and it's worth buying the weapons and armor upgrades they offer Nave, as well as her gift "Collected Evidence" - especially if you chose to defend Treviso instead of Minla in the main quest Seuss, because you won't be able to return anytime soon.

You may also consider purchasing any cosmetics you want for Rook, although your options will be limited in the early stages of the game.

Defeat the Venatorians

After following the marker to reach the Shady Courtyard, you will come to a small square where you will need to fight the Venatorian. Their numbers are small and Neveu's cold abilities take care of them easily, and once they are defeated they reveal a door to an underground tunnel. This is another linear area where you can follow the markers.

Destroy the dark crystal blocking the road

At the end of the tunnel you will encounter a blackened crystal. Instead of glowing red like other crystals, it hardens and turns black. This means it's shielded and currently cannot be destroyed - an obstacle you'll encounter quite often in Curtain Guard.

You need to follow the vein extending from the blackened crystal (which sounds really gross), which in this case means going around the left wall. Attacking smaller crystals and crystals blocking the path will turn red. Attack it and you can pass through it like an archway.

Destroy the source of the Darkin

This will take you into the sewers, where the Darkin and Venatorians appear to be in cahoots. You'll need to use Nave's cold abilities and ranged attacks to deal with the Venatorians, as well as enemies with barriers, but the Darkin will continue to attack.

This is because there are two crystals deep in the sewers that continuously produce Darkin. One is right on the edge and can be targeted with ranged attacks, while the other is near the back wall and requires you to climb up steps to attack.

Once these crystals are destroyed and the remaining darkspawn eliminated, new enemies will no longer appear. You'll face two more powerful Venatorians - Dee and the Nomad Brothers - but the strategy remains the same: use Nave's cold damage and ranged attacks to break down the barrier.

After defeating the brothers, open the treasure chest to obtain a Bleed Shard Ring, which increases Bleed Damage by +20%.

Find the door to the Shadow Dragon Sanctuary

Return to the area with the crystals and attack the large crystal on the wall to reveal a ladder. Climb up and follow the markers along the passage. Stop and attack the wooden beam blocking the cave to grab a souvenir for the caregiver. At the end of the passage there is a door that will take you back to the Shadow Dragon and the plot will unfold.

Go to warehouse

Again, follow the quest markers and you'll face more Venatorians. There are more and more powerful ones here than before, so we recommend using the Blizzard skill to control them, as well as the powerful Rook skill to deal with them in traps - as well as ranged attacks to break their barriers. Detonation will also be a key tool applied here.

After defeating this wave of enemies, head to the back of the dock and attack the Venatori Crystal to reveal a ladder. Climb up and defeat the Blood Hunter Zealot (again, detonating will be a big help), and destroy the second Venatori Crystal behind him. This will reveal a second ladder hidden in an alcove, allowing you to climb up to the roof and sneak inside.

If the roof access does not trigger, go to the main door (which is found to be locked), which contains a note complaining about the roof access being left open.

There are two more Venatorians with barriers on the roof, so take out their barriers first and then jump down from the skylight. Inside, follow the passage all the way to the end, where scattered boards block your way. Rook is not blocked by planks - attack them and move on..

Stop the Ritual – Defeat the Binding Demon

You will then find yourself standing on a cliff in the warehouse, witnessing the Venatorian and a Binding Demon. For Flamelock Mages, these are the same as for other Venatorians - remove their barriers with ranged headshot attacks, then use Nave's cold damage to rip them apart.

During this encounter, you need to stay on the cliff you start on as much as possible - basically, once the Binding Majin jumps up, you need to jump off. Until then, focus on targeting the Venatorians with ranged attacks, and you should take out a Venatorian or two before the Majin sees you.

As for the Majin itself, using detonation will reduce its armor, and when this happens, its stagger meter will increase. Fill this meter up quickly with a lot of taps, then perform a takedown move. This alone may not be enough to kill it, but combined with a few skill attacks and careful dodging when it turns red and charges towards you, it will get it away.

After the battle, go to the middle stack of shelves to interact with a piece of paper, then move to the box next to it and do the same. This will reveal the Venatorian's plan, at which point Viper will arrive and the final plot will begin. The mission reward is 400 points of Shadow Dragon strength and 3,750 experience points, and unlocks "In Peace, Stay Vigilant".
