In "Metaphorical Fantasy: ReFantazio", controlling teammates in battle is a very important thing in the game, but many players don't know how to control team members in battle. In fact, if you want to control team members in battle, you can defeat Captain Klinger. When Demea comes out, you'll get a prompt telling you that you can now give orders to your allies in battle.
How to control team members in a metaphorical fantasy battle
In ReFantazio, you gain control of your teammates as they awaken their archetypal powers. Stroll, for example, started out as a guest character who attacks enemies with his sword, but will become a controllable party member during the boss fight with Captain Klinger in the mines. He will awaken into the warrior archetype and become available starting from that boss fight.
After defeating Captain Klinger, when you emerge from Arcademia, you will receive a prompt telling you that you can now give orders to your allies in battle, taking full advantage of ReFantazio's unique combat mechanics. From this point on, you can manually control the actions of your party members via on-screen buttons, one for each major action:
Melee: Attack a single target with your melee weapon.
Archetype: A skill that uses the archetype currently equipped by the character.
Items: Use items from your supply.
Defense: Temporarily increases defense when activated.
Pass: Pass the turn to an ally.
