If you were to only play FC 25 offline, you could certainly have plenty of fun, especially with all the changes made to Career Mode this year. But if you really want to get the full FC experience, playing modes like Ultimate Team and Clubs, then you’re going to need to play online.

Playing FC 25 online
Unsurprisingly, you’ll need an internet connection, wired or wireless, in order to play FC 25. We’re going to assume that, since you’re reading this, you’ve got that sorted already, in which case we can proceed onto what you need to do to enable online play.
Both Xbox and PlayStation require you to have a subscription to an online pass to play FC 25 online. For Xbox players, you need to be subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate, which will set you back £14.99 / €17.99 / $19.99 per month to sign up. For PlayStation players, you’ll need to be a PlayStation Plus member, which will cost you a much more reasonable £6.99 / €8.99 / $9.99 a month instead.
Once you’ve got your subscriptions sorted, your game should automatically connect you to the online servers whenever you load it up. If not, you can connect to the EA servers manually by pressing down on the right analogue stick, or by attempting to open an online mode such as Ultimate Team or Clubs.
While it’s frustrating to have to pay to play online, for a game like FC 25, it’s probably worth doing. Not only does it let you play with friends, but it gives you full access to Ultimate Team and Clubs, two of the most popular game modes in the game, so unless you’re happy just playing Career Mode, it’s basically a must.
