Vessels are on the features in Black Myth Wuong that gives players some customisation to counter very specific mechanics and playstyles. When you unlock Vessels, you can use them to drain your Qi meter, used on spirits and the like. Instead, you get special interaction, often used to ignore mechanics, rather than to perform special moves like regular spirits. Here’s a closer look at how to get and use Vessels in Black Myth Wukong.
How to use Vessels
When you unlock a vessel, you can use one by pressing RT or R2 and the left thumbstick to use it. You need to select a vessel before you can use it. To select one, open your inventory, and then check the slot next to the spirits and your gear. This is your vessel slot.
When it is selected, build your Qi resource as normal, either by resting or by fighting enemies and building it up. You can then use your buttons to activate the Vessel. See a demo of your vessel to get an idea of how it works by going into the vessel menu and pressing the demo button.
The best way to use Vessels is to check what you have and how they work. For example, the Chapter 2 vessel is great for counteracting dust storms. This is important, as one of the main mechanics of the final fight in Chapter 2 relies on tornados to CC you. This counters the second and third phases of Yellow Wind Sage incredibly effectively, making the difficulty much easier for what is supposed to be a very hard boss. The first chapter also grants fire res reduction, which counter s a lot of the chapter 1 end boss’ attacks.
How to get Vessels
Now, you use vessels you need to unlock. Typically, there’s one in each chapter, and they will require you to complete the secret level. The secret depends on each chapter.
For example, Chapter 1 requires you to hit all the bells in the chapter. You can find them in the following locations.
- Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest
- Bamboo Grove: Snake Path
- Third Bell: Bamboo Grove: White Mists
In Chapter 2, you will need to complete the drunk pig questline. Grab the Sobering Stone from the Windrest Hametl, by going into one of the optional gardens and smashing the golden crate. You can also get one from the Man ins toe vendor.
When you get it, you can go to the Cliffs region and find the drunk boar NPC in a large garden on the left side of the shrine gate.
- You’ll need to take a right from the Stone Vanguard area to find this location.
- Once there, you need to meet him at the Crouching Tiger Temple, then get a gold piece from the first rat prince boss.
- Return, then head back to the area where you found the drunk pig to complete the secret.
These are examples of the early ways to get vessels. When you unlock the secret area, you will then need to fight a boss. The boss will then give you the secret vessel as a reward that you can use. Check your vessel slot to see what you unlocked and then equip it for when you need it.
