One of the best things about Fortnite is that Epic Games are constantly adding new skins to the game for players to use, whether that’s original creations or massive crossovers with games and movies. But while most of these skins will cost you money in the form of V-Bucks, a few skins are available totally free, like the new Katalina skin.
So we’ve put together this guide to tell you exactly how you can unlock the Katalina skin for free in Fortnite, including what the requirements are and what method you can use to get it for yourself in-game.

How to unlock the Katalina skin
The Katalina skin is unlocked in Fortnite by earning XP in the Fortnite App on Android and iOS in the European Union. This means that players in the EU with access to an Android or iOS phone or tablet simply need to download Fortnite onto their device, log in and start earning XP to unlock the Katalina skin.
In total, you need 100,000 XP to unlock the skin, as well as its LEGO variant, while you’ll also get a wrap, pickaxe and back bling along the way. You could do this by playing normally, but thanks to our best XP maps, you’d be able to get 100,000 XP in no time flat.
Unfortunately, this does mean that the skin is not available to players from outside the EU for free. That being said, it’s highly likely that the skin will eventually make its way to the Item Shop at a later date, so while you won’t be able to get it for free, you’ll still get the chance to unlock it at another time.
Players are often quick to find workarounds with region-locked promotions like this, whether that’s using a VPN or something else, but at the time of writing, there hasn’t been anything discovered that will let players from outside the EU earn this skin for free. We’ll be keeping an eye out for anything like that, though, so make sure to check back here to see if anything has changed.
