A defensive back’s bearing down on you as you sprint the last 20 yards toward the end zone. At this point, you need to know how to dive in Madden 25 so you can hit the pylon even if you get tackled out of bounds.
But with so many skill moves and fundamentals to master in the game, learning even one that’s as simple as diving can be lost in the hubbub of the gridiron. So, to make it easier for you, we’ll show you what buttons you need to press to dive. This way, you can rack up those touchdowns even if a speedy cornerback like Tariq Woolen is chasing you down.
How to dive
Here’s what buttons you need to press to dive in Madden 25:
Skill Move | PlayStation | Xbox |
Dive | Hold Square while running | Hold X while running |
That’s right; all you need to do to dive is hold down one button while you’re running with the ball carrier. This move is especially useful when you’re trying to get into the end zone and a defender is close to tackling you. The extra reach diving provides can mean the difference between a crucial touchdown and a game-altering goal-line stop, so make sure to use it when the opportunity arises.

You can also use diving to gain extra yardage on the open field or to avoid getting tackled on a designed QB run. However, it can also often cause fumbles when used in this scenario, so we only recommend diving for extra yardage if there isn’t a defender in front of you. Otherwise, the ball hitting an opposing player could create a costly turnover.
Now, even though diving is one of the more useful skill moves in the game, it arguably isn’t as important as learning how to spin and how to juke in Madden 25. These are two fundamental moves you need to know, especially if you prefer playing as a WR or RB in Superstar mode.
