In an era where dual-threat QBs are a boon to any team, designed quarterback runs are part of any decent NFL scheme. But in order to avoid your signal caller from getting injured, you need to know how to slide in Madden 25.
Some, if not all, of the best Madden 25 playbooks include a bevy of read option and zone read plays that are tailor-made to get your speedy quarterback (à la Lamar Jackson) chunk yardage. So, to maximize these calls without placing your most important player in harm’s way, here’s what you need to do to slide in the game.
How to QB slide in Madden 25
Here are the buttons you need to press to slide:

Remember not to hold the square / X button too long with the quarterback. Otherwise, instead of sliding, you’ll dive, which can cause a turnover if the ball comes into contact with another player. It’s also worth pointing out that you can only perform a slide with the quarterback. If you tap square while running with a wide receiver or running back, you’ll perform a small dive forward instead.

Although you probably won’t be using this move in most scenarios, having it in your arsenal is still important, especially if your favorite playbook has plenty of option plays. Schemes like the Ravens, Cardinals, or Cowboys have many of those exact calls simply because of their mobile QBs, and since these are arguably some of the best teams in Madden 25, learning how to slide becomes even more essential.
