There are some very popular Stratagems in Helldivers 2 but one of the more recognizable is the AC-8 Autocannon. This powerful weapon is effective against armoured enemies and is able to tear through Scout Striders fairly fast. Let’s break down how to get and use the AC-8 Autocannon in Helldivers 2 so you can up your game.

How to get the AC-8 Autocannon

If you want to get your hands on the AC-8 Autocannon in Helldivers 2, you need to purchase it from the Stratagems Menu. This can be accessed via the Ship Management menu between missions. The AC-8 Autocannon will cost you 7,000 Requisition Slips which can be obtained by completing missions. Luckily, you don’t need to farm any Super Credits to get this weapon.

How to use the AC-8 Autocannon

Using the Autocannon begins with selecting it during the Stratagem selection. This happens right before you start a mission. With the Autocannon selected, call it in like you would any other Stratagem. The Autocannon is a powerful weapon that can destroy light-armoured vehicles like the Scout Strider. Ammo for this weapon is stored in a backpack and can be reloaded manually or by a teammate.

While someone can assist with reloading the weapon, it is not required. Unfortunately, the use of the ammo backpack does restrict the use of other backpack Stratagems such as the Jump Pack or the Supply Pack.

Best Autocannon loadouts

The Autocannon is a great weapon but it is best when paired with other weapons. The following loadouts are good to have with the Autocannon:

• Punisher, Redeemer, Stun Grenade, and the Engineering Kit armour passive
• Breaker, Redeemer, Stun Grenade, Fortified Armour passive

These loadouts will help you get the most out of the Autocannon so you can use it effectively and have a well-rounded build to deal with any other threats. Of course, you will also want Stratagems. We recommend using Eagle Cluster Bomb, Orbital Laser, and Autocannon Sentry, but what you use is up to you.
