As you venture across Ava, you’ll amass a huge stock of plants, resources, and brews, but Vic’s starting backpack is limited in size, meaning you’ll be inadvertently playing an inventory management mini-game. Fortunately, bundled into the game is the option to expand your backpack capacity with backpack pockets, collectibles found across the map.
There are a total of six backpack pockets to find, scattered across the Tamura Grasslands, Nari Jungle, and Maruba Swamp biomes. The first two unlock the first backpack extension, which increases inventory size by 5 slots. The second extension, which again grants another 5 extra slots, requires another four pockets. We’ll walk you through where to find all backpack pocket locations.
Tamura Grasslands backpack pocket locations
The Tamura Grasslands are home to three backpack pockets. Below, you’ll find shots of where to find them on the map.
Tamura Grasslands backpack pocket 1
The first pocket is found in the west of the region and to the north of the Maruba swamp sibling tree. To access the area, you’ll need to tame a Ura creature to destroy the vines blocking the path. Press on, breaking the vines as you go and you’ll come to clearing with a stack of crates covered by a net. The pocket is on top of the crates.

The second pocket is found at the Scientific Refuge in the very east of the grasslands. Head inside the refuge building and make your way to the back room on the left. You’ll find the backpack pocket on a desk next to a tablet.

The final grasslands pocket is in The Weeping Rock ruins in the very south of the region. You’ll come to the area as part of the Through Stone, We Teach main story quest and unlock the Krist ability, which you’ll need to get the pocket. The pocket is inside a hidden area on the stairs leading up to the Sagestone. Destroy the two Yellow Witherblossom plants to clear the gap in the wall, then grab the pocket from crates.
Nari Jungle backpack pockets locations
The Nari Jungle has two backpack pockets for you to find:
Nari Jungle backpack pocket 1
The first is located inside the Aleph Prime jungle base, which is northeast of the Giggling Waterfall teleporter. Enter the base and head inside the first room on the left. The pocket is sitting on a chair on your left as you enter.
Nari Jungle backpack pocket 2
The second pocket is in the north of the Nari Jungle and northwest of the Marsh of Shine teleporter. Head to the location of the map above. Tame a Yekembo creature then use its push ability to shift the large block. Tame a Batar and hop into the ruins blocked by a bridge. Destroy the rope to lower the bridge. Switch back to the Yekembo, climb the bridge, and shift the block into the gap to make a bridge with the one you moved previously. Walk across using the Yekembo and destroy the cracked wall. The pocket is on a stack of crates ahead.
Maruba Swamp backpack pockets locations
There is only one backpack pocket to find in the Maruba Swamp biome:

The first and only pocket in the Maruba Swamp is in the Aleph Prime’s Study Center in the west of the biome. Head for the building with the locked ground floor door. Go up the stairs nearby to reach the second floor and enter the building then drop down into the room below where you’ll find the pocket on some crates.
