Madden 25 has brought back franchise mode, which means you need to know how to relocate teams. It’s one of Madden’s best joys that you can run an NFL franchise the way you see fit (perhaps turning your favourite team into a virtual contender) and that includes moving them to a new city if you want. You may be able to go international or somewhere else in the United States.
How to relocate teams in Madden 25 Franchise Mode
Before you even begin your franchise mode playthrough, a few things must be done before you can relocate a team. Follow these steps at the creation of your franchise:
- Select a team to run. Ideally, for relocation, this is either a team with a bad stadium or a low OVR rating.
- Select change ‘Change Role’ and choose ‘Owner’, not ‘Player’. The type of owner you are is largely inconsequential to the goal of relocation.
- Start the franchise.

Now, you can begin your franchise mode playthrough. If you need to relocate, you can do the following:
- Simulate (or play all games) through to Week 1 of the regular season. You can skip the entire preseason by choosing ‘simulate to the regular season’ or go week-by-week.
- Head over to the Manage section.
- Select ‘Start Relocation’ from the available options.
This begins the process, but it does take some time. You then have to select a location (London, Mexico City, and more are options), a team name, a jersey, and more. You also, as the owner of this team, must start the work on a new stadium. It takes several weeks and there are several steps. Be sure to pay attention to your weekly tasks so you don’t miss any that you need to complete before officially moving.
Which teams should be moved in Madden?
As mentioned, not all teams can be immediately moved. As the owner, you could theoretically ignore all stadium upgrades and tank the team to make them bad enough that fans are unhappy and want a move, but that takes time and is not recommended.
Instead, choose bad teams or those without recent stadium upgrades. Some good options are:
- Carolina Panthers
- Arizona Cardinals
- New York Giants
- Washington Commanders
Avoid teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, or San Francisco 49ers. These are going to be more challenging to move and will take more time. You’re free to simulate to the right points (unless it’s a connected franchise with friends), but those points will come much further down the road with those teams.
