Something New — the Stasis hand cannon added back in 2022 — is back in the game as part of Destiny 2’s summer holiday event, Solstice 2024. While the weapon may be old, Bungie’s devs have given it a whole new perk pool for this event, making it worth farming a new one.

In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over how to get Something New and what perks we consider the “god roll” in both PvE and PvP.

Note: After August 27, Something New will be unavailable until at least Solstice 2025.

How to get Something New in 2024

You can get Something New as a reward for completing the Bonfire Bash activity and earning Solstice packages. Basically, if you’re participating in the event at all, you’ll see multiple drops for Something New and all the other Solstice weapons.

Something New 2024 PvE God Roll

Hand cannons are in a pretty good spot after The Final Shape expansion, and Something New’s unique origin perk makes it a solid choice for cooperative activities like raids and Nightfalls.

When using a Stasis handcannon, we typically like to pair it with Stasis abilities and subclasses, making Headstone a great option. Rapid Hit pairs very nicely with Headstone, as you’re already getting headshots in order to trigger the Stasis crystal.

Here’s the PvE god roll we recommend:

* Barrel: Smallbore

* Magazine: Tactical Mag with a Backup Mag mod

* Perk 1: Rapid Hit

* Perk 2: Headstone

* Origin Trait: Dream Work

Something New PvP God Roll

Something New has some excellent PvP perks in 2024, with multiple options to help put you ahead — including the classic Kill Clip + reload perk. But we’re going to go with Explosive Payload and the To the Pain perk instead, as it’s a much newer combo.

Here’s the PvP god roll we recommend:
