Keet is a simple yet engaging abstract strategy board game for two players. Played on a 9x9 grid, the objective of the game is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or block them from making any legal moves.

Gameplay

The game begins with each player placing their nine pieces on the grid. Pieces can be placed anywhere on the board, but they cannot be placed adjacent to each other.

On their turn, a player moves one of their pieces one space orthogonally (up, down, left, or right). Pieces cannot move diagonally or jump over other pieces.

Capture

When a piece moves adjacent to an opponent's piece, it captures that piece and removes it from the board. However, if a piece is surrounded by two or more of the opponent's pieces, it is protected and cannot be captured.

Winning

The game is won when one player captures all of their opponent's pieces or when the opponent has no legal moves remaining.

Strategy

Keet is a game of strategy and tactics. Players must carefully consider their moves to capture their opponent's pieces while protecting their own.

Some basic strategies include:

* Control the center: Controlling the center of the board gives you more options for movement and capture.

* Protect your pieces: Keep your pieces close together to prevent them from being captured.

* Attack from multiple directions: If you can attack an opponent's piece from multiple directions, it will be difficult for them to protect it.

* Think ahead: Consider your opponent's possible moves and try to anticipate their strategy.

Variants

There are several variants of Keet, including:

* Keet 10x10: Played on a 10x10 grid with 12 pieces per player.

* Keet with obstacles: Played on a grid with obstacles that block movement.

* Keet with capture bonus: Players receive points for capturing their opponent's pieces.
