WVVA News is a local television news station serving the Bluefield-Beckley-Oak Hill, West Virginia market. It is owned by Gray Television and is affiliated with NBC.

History

WVVA was founded in 1955 as WKOY-TV. The station was originally owned by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph and was an affiliate of CBS. In 1959, the station was sold to Rollins Broadcasting and became an NBC affiliate. In 1987, Rollins sold WVVA to Gray Communications.

Programming

WVVA News produces several local newscasts each day, including "WVVA News at 6:00," "WVVA News at 10:00," and "WVVA News at 11:00." The station also produces a variety of local programming, including "WVVA This Morning," "WVVA Midday," and "WVVA Newsmakers."

Awards

WVVA News has won numerous awards for its coverage of local news and events. In 2019, the station was awarded the West Virginia Broadcasters Association's "Station of the Year" award.
