Cabo is a shedding-style card game for two to four players, ages 7 and up. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all of their cards.

Materials

* Standard deck of 52 playing cards

Setup

1. Shuffle the deck and deal 7 cards to each player.

2. Place the remaining cards face down in a pile in the center of the table. This is the draw pile.

3. Turn over the top card of the draw pile and place it face up next to it. This is the discard pile.

Gameplay

1. The player to the left of the dealer goes first.

2. On your turn, you must play a card from your hand that matches the rank or suit of the card on the discard pile.

3. If you cannot play a card, you must draw a card from the draw pile.

4. If you draw a card that you can play, you may play it immediately.

5. If you cannot play the card you drew, your turn is over.

6. The next player takes their turn.

Special Cards

* 2: If you play a 2, you can force the next player to draw two cards.

* 7: If you play a 7, you can switch the direction of play.

* Ace: If you play an ace, you can change the suit of the discard pile.

Cabo

If you have only one card left in your hand, you must shout "Cabo!" before playing it. If you forget to shout "Cabo!" and another player catches you, you must draw two cards.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all of their cards wins the game.

Variations

There are many variations of Cabo, including:

* Speed Cabo: Players race to get rid of their cards as quickly as possible.

* Cabo with Jokers: Jokers can be used as wild cards.

* Cabo with Two Decks: Two decks of cards are used, making the game more challenging.
