Canossa is a two-player, abstract strategy game designed by Klaus Teuber and published in 1999. The game is played on a 5x5 grid with 25 squares. Each player has 12 pieces, which are placed on the board at the start of the game.

The goal of the game is to capture all of your opponent's pieces. This can be done by surrounding a piece with your own pieces, or by jumping over a piece with one of your own pieces.

The game is played in turns, with each player taking one turn at a time. On your turn, you can move one of your pieces to an adjacent square, or you can jump over one of your opponent's pieces to an adjacent square.

If you jump over a piece, you capture that piece and remove it from the board. You can also capture a piece by surrounding it with your own pieces.

The game ends when one player has captured all of their opponent's pieces.
