Bangla Alphabet

Bengali Alphabet for Kids is one of the complete android applications for Bengali alphabet learning. There are few excellent features in this application which will make the kids interested to use this application more and more, and eventually they will learn more. The features are given below,

The Bangla alphabet, also known as the Bengali alphabet, is the writing system used to write the Bengali language. It is an abugida, meaning that each consonant has an inherent vowel sound, but this vowel sound can be modified by the use of diacritics. The Bangla alphabet is the fifth most widely used writing system in the world, with over 250 million native speakers.

History

The Bangla alphabet is thought to have developed from the Brahmi script, which was used in ancient India. The earliest known examples of Bangla writing date from the 7th century CE. Over time, the Bangla alphabet underwent a number of changes, and by the 12th century CE, it had taken on its modern form.

Structure

The Bangla alphabet consists of 50 letters, including 39 consonants and 11 vowels. The consonants are divided into three groups: voiceless stops, voiced stops, and fricatives. The vowels are divided into two groups: short vowels and long vowels.

Diacritics

Diacritics are used to modify the inherent vowel sound of a consonant. There are six diacritics in the Bangla alphabet:

* অ (a): This diacritic is used to add the vowel sound "a" to a consonant.

* আ (aa): This diacritic is used to add the vowel sound "aa" to a consonant.

* ই (i): This diacritic is used to add the vowel sound "i" to a consonant.

* ঊ (uu): This diacritic is used to add the vowel sound "uu" to a consonant.

Numerals

The Bangla alphabet also includes a set of numerals. These numerals are based on the Hindu-Arabic numerals, but they have a slightly different shape.

Usage

The Bangla alphabet is used to write the Bengali language, which is spoken by over 250 million people in Bangladesh, India, and other parts of the world. The Bangla alphabet is also used to write other languages, such as Assamese, Bodo, and Manipuri.
