Solitaire, also known as Klondike, is a timeless single-player card game that has captivated generations of players. Its enduring popularity stems from its straightforward rules, challenging gameplay, and therapeutic qualities.

Objective:

The primary goal of Solitaire is to sort all 52 cards into four piles, each representing a different suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades) and arranged in ascending order from Ace to King.

Setup:

The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The deck is initially shuffled and then laid out into seven piles called the tableau. The first pile contains one card, the second two cards, and so on, with the seventh pile containing seven cards. The remaining 24 cards form the stock pile.

Gameplay:

Gameplay involves moving cards between the tableau piles, the stock pile, and four foundation piles. The foundation piles are initially empty and serve as the destination for the sorted cards.

Rules:

* Tableau Piles: Cards in the tableau piles can be moved in descending order and alternating colors. For example, a red 8 can be placed on a black 9, and a black 7 can be placed on a red 8.

* Stock Pile: The stock pile can be drawn from three times. If a card from the stock pile can be played, it must be played. Otherwise, the stock pile is reshuffled and the process repeats.

* Foundation Piles: Cards in the foundation piles are arranged in ascending order, starting with Aces and ending with Kings. Only cards of the same suit can be placed on each foundation pile.

* Empty Tableau Spaces: If a tableau pile becomes empty, a King or a sequence of cards starting with a King can be moved into the empty space.

Winning:

The game is won when all 52 cards have been sorted into the four foundation piles. The player is then presented with a winning screen.

Variations:

Over the years, numerous variations of Solitaire have emerged, each with its own unique set of rules and challenges. Some popular variations include:

* Spider Solitaire: Uses two decks of cards and features eight tableau piles instead of seven.
