Lost in the Past is a Fieldwork side quest in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Lost in the Past Fieldwork side mission.

  • Starting Location: Sukhothai / Khaimuk Saksit Village
  • Requirement: Listen to Sunan tell the story of a girl who met a demon in a cave near Wat Sa Si
  • Reward: 800
  • Quest Description: Sunan told a story about a girl who met a demon in a cave. She helped the demon and got a golden fishing hook in return. If there is truth to the story, the cave should be located near Wat Sa Si.

Find the Cave

Head to Wat Sa Si and dock your boat, then head west until you find an enemy camp, with a bunch of floating platforms and docks. Right on the southern edge of their dock is a table with a note on it.

Fieldwork Note #20: Poisoning Report (50 AP)

Southwest of the dock are the actual ruins of Wat Sa Si. Head across and take a photo of it.

Discovery Note #50: Wat Sa Si (70 AP)

Right in front of Wat Sa Si, is a table and chairs with a card on it.

Fieldwork Note #21: Moon Card (50 AP)

Head back to the camp, and look for the large grey tent with a dinner table, shelves and a radio room. Staring near the radio set, there is a postcard, a radio frequency, and a few rolls of bills (200฿).

Fieldwork Note #22: Bangkok Postcard (50 AP)

Radio Frequency #2: Wat Sa Si (90 AP)

On the north side of the tent is a Medicine Bottle.

Medicine Bottle #6: Wat Sa Si

Go past the bulldozers, and there are two statues against a wall. In the center of the wall is a hole you can crawl through. On the other side is a temple.

Just to the left of the doorway to the temple is a note on a crate.

Fieldwork Note #23: Ghost Report (50 AP)

Explore the Cave

Head inside and go down the stairs. At the bottom are three sledgehammers and an obviously cracked wall.

A little ways down the stairs is a skeleton on the right hand side to photograph.

Fieldwork Note #24: Large Skeleton (180 AP)

At the bottom of the stairs, you will squeeze through a narrow passage. On the other side take a photo before you approach the prayer wheel.

Fieldwork Note #25: Nephilim Stone Construction (180 AP)

Interact with the prayer wheel before you suddenly pass out and wake up in Marshall University? What’s going on?

Find out What’s Happening

Take a photo of Hamilton Hall Doors straight ahead of you, causing them to open. Follow the hallway till you see Antonio. Speak with him for nothing helpful. Keep following the winding halls, noticing that your map doesn’t have an arrow for your location on it, since nothing here is like it should be. Eventually you will find Marcus waiting in your outer office. Approach him and he will give you a photograph. On the front is a picture of three artifacts in order from left to right, the Cat Mummy from Siwa, the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol, and finally the headpiece of the Staff of Ra

On your desk, take the photo of the cat mummy and look at it. Put it down and go back in the hall, and suddenly there are vines all over the place. Marcus is now in the hall, and his words start to get a bit darker. Follow the hall until you find yourself at your classroom. Except it’s filled with packed boxes. On the desk is the headpiece of the Staff of Ra. Grab it and place it in the right white spot on the desk, just like it was in the photograph that Marcus showed you. Turn around and you’ll see that the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol has suddenly appeared, which will go on the middle spot. Lastly the cat mummy appears on a pedestal. Pick it up and place it on the remaining spot.

When all three objects are placed correctly, the Adamic word for “rebirth” will appear on the chalkboard. Brodie helpfully suggests that you should take a picture of it, and when you do the word disappears and so does Marcus.

Fieldwork Note #26: “Heh-zam-eesh” (180 AP)

Keep walking down the halls, and you’ll see a giant in the distance. You turn the corner, and suddenly Nawal is here. You’ll speak with her a few times as you continue twisting down the hallways, until the next time a door blasts open and you’ll be in the nurse’s office. Inside a phone rings. When you pick it up you have a brief confused conversation with Gina but you think it’s Marion. When you pick up your hat again, you spot another Adamic word.

Fieldwork Note #27: “Gira’ahn-matu” (50 AP)

It means “Exodus” or “to leave”.

Back out in the hall, things have gotten even more overgrown and now there are torches lit to make it even creepier. Eventually you’ll find a note on a marble plinth in the middle of the hall. Its a note from Ernesto telling Indy to find Room #11. After a few minutes of walking another door will slam open and you’ll be back in the Vatican doing the sacred wounds puzzle again. Grab the wine off the table next to Antonio, and pour it into the basin as you did before.

Now set the switches appropriately:

(from Jesus’s perspective, of course)

Left Hand: 2

Right Hand: 2

Side: 3

Left Foot: 4

Right Foot: 3

Head through the secret door and go down the stairs to find a journal with a note inside, but this time it’s from Gina. Suddenly the screen will go white… and you’ll be standing on the ceiling. Keep following the weird hallways until you find a roman number V on a marble plinth. Take it. Next is an X. Take that too. Now start looking for a number plate that still has an I on it. Add your X to make XI and the door will open. Go inside and you’ll get another Adamic word to photograph.

Fieldwork Note #28: “Heh’k-dashu” (180 AP)

It means “temple”.

Go back outside and there will be a new pedestal with your fedora on it. Take it and put it on to be attacked by a giant. Turn and run!

Solve the Prayer Wheel Puzzle

Now Indy will repeat the word when it’s in the right position, so this isn’t much of a puzzle, but for the sake of argument the correct order is “Gira’ahn-matu” / “Heh-zam-eesh” / “Heh’k-dashu”. Once all three are in the right place, the prayer wheel will sink into the ground revealing the Golden Fishing Hook on top.

Before you leave the prayer wheel chamber, look at the north wall. Follow the small stream to a small hole in the wall that you can crawl through.

On the other side, whip to the root above and climb the wall to the top.

At the top is a relic.

Ancient Relic #14: Wat Sa Si Prayer Wheel (180 AP)

Give the Hook to Sunan

Before you head back to the village, quickly take the boat around the corner to the north for a photo opportunity.

Discovery Note #51: Old Ruins (70 AP)

Then, on the way back to the village take a photo of the sunken barges outside of Wat Sa Si.

Discovery Note #52: Capsized Barges (70 AP)

Now you can head back to the village and give the hook to Sunan to finish this Fieldwork. This finishes Lost in the Past Fieldwork side quest in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
