Get Out of The Building

Starting off in the middle of a literal war zone, wreckage is everywhere and sometimes where you need to go isn’t clear. First, climb up the collapsed floor, go around the wreckage of the Kummetz, then follow the remaining second floor boards around until there’s a collapsed third floor acting as a ramp up.

Follow Gina and jump down when she tells you to, onto the broken rooftops and rubble below.

Get off the Streets

Run down the street towards the waypoint, taking a detour through a streetcar to get around a fiery crater in the road. Then climb to the top of a bus and from there into another building.

In the next room, you will fall down to the first floor inside.

Find an Escape Route

When you get up, go straight ahead to a door, open it then look left.

Outside the building on your left is a porch with a table and chair. There is a note on top of the table.

Adventure Note #1: Shanghai Drawing (30 AP)

 

Step off the porch towards the stairs that lead to a canal, and there is a photo opportunity.

Adventure Note #2: Old Town Canal (60 AP)

 

Jump across the broken bridge and go through the doorway onto the street beyond. A Japanese fighter pilot is here looking at the remains of his plane, then he sees you and attacks! Make short work of him, and then move closer to his plane.

Adventure Note #3: Crashed Plane (60 AP)

 

Facing the crashed plane, look to your right and you’ll see a pile of rubble creating a ramp towards a bus. From there climb up to the balcony and look back towards the canal. There is a note here on what’s left of this balcony.

Adventure Note #4: Chilling Encounters (30 AP)

 

Drop back down to the street, and climb up the cart and into the building across from you. Then climb up to the third floor and turn to follow Gina. Almost immediately you’ll find the area map on a table to your right.  

In the next room, look right and you’ll see an Adventure Book on a chair.

Adventure Book #1: Bob & Weave (Requires 500 AP)

Follow Gina and she’ll be pointing into the distance at a plane. Take a photo of it.

Adventure Note #5: Chinese Biplane (60 AP)

Get to the Plane

Gina thinks she can fly you out of there if she can examine the plane and get it working. Follow her down the balcony till you can see a whip point on the large green sign on the building across the street. Whip Yank it down to create a bridge across the street.

Go through this relatively intact building until you emerge in a space between the buildings on the other side. The way to the left is blocked, so head towards the street and jump out onto the roof. There is a photo opportunity here to take a photo of the bridge connecting two buildings.

Adventure Note #6: Destroyed Bridge (60 AP)

Get to the edge of the roof and jump across to the bridge roof, then follow it to a gap to the east.

Jump across to the other side, then immediately turn around and look down past the edge to see a platform below that you can drop to.

Do so, and then jump across to the next building to find a note.

Adventure Note #7: Xiaolongbao Recipe (30 AP)

Jump back to the platform, then jump across and grab onto the edge of the rooftop to climb up to where Gina is waiting for you. Continue through the ruined building until the floor collapses and you fall to the floor below. Jump across the gap ahead of you, go around the corner and then whip to the ledge in the distance.

Climb up and follow the path till you’re back with Gina. Walk up the rubble pile, then climb up onto the floor above you. From here, jump across the gap to the building on the street and you’ll be at the plane.

Pull up the Tail

Gina will get in the plane, and you’ll have to whip yank it to straighten it out so she can take off.

Climb Up To The Plane

Predictably, you now have to climb up your whip and get in the plane before you hit anything.

Shoot the Fighter Planes

First things first. When I saw the gunner sequence, I wondered if they would include this, and they absolutely did. It is possible to shoot your own tail. If you do so, Indy quotes his father saying “they got us”. Is it worth doing just to see it? I’ll let you be the judge.

In the meantime, keep shooting the machine gun at any plane that strays your way.

Eventually you will get to a part where Indy mentions Lao Che during a slow point in the sequence. After this, if you just continue to fight as normal you will instantly die in an unfair seeming way. When Indy says “I’ll get us a new plane. Don’t crash!”, there is a prompt to press / to exit the turret which is easy to miss in the thick of battle.

Get to the Fighter Plane

You’ll climb up onto the upper wing, and you will quickly have to run down your wing, jump, and land on the enemy’s wing before they move away from you and you crash. The enemy’s gunner will crawl out and fight you on the wing. Knock him off, then go up to the cockpit and interact with it to deal with the pilot.

Then, once you have control of the plane. Gina will leap to the wing of your plane, and will need you to grab her hand to pull her in. In a cinematic Indy and Gina will talk about the stones and what needs to be done. Indy posits that the next site will be in Sukhothai, because none of the other relics Voss had already recovered came from there. Next stop, Siam!
