Most Souls-likes have some form of parry system, offering rewards for perfect time high risk yet high reward blocks. However, Black Myth Wukong does not have a parry system. Instead, the game’s alternative comes in the form of perfect dodges. Perfect dodges typically grant bonuses to your combat stats during a fight. However, you can unlock things that give you a parry-like playstyle. Here’s everything you need to know about Parry alternatives in Black Myth Wukong.

As mentioned, parrying is done in the form of perfect dodges. To perfect dodge, you need to press the dodge moment right as the attack is about to hit your character. Successfully initiating a perfect dodge refills your Focus meter with a nice burst of focus. It’s a nice tip to try and do. Some bosses and enemies are much easier to perfect dodge too. However, there are a lot of other types of buffs you can get from perfectly dodging an opponent.
As you explore the game, you’ll gradually unlock more armour sets. In Chapter 2, you can get a new armour set that awards perfect dodging. The Galeguard armour set is one such that is unlocked in the late parts of Chapter 2. The two set awards an increased amount of Focus upon landing Perfect Dodges. The four-set bonus also grants players a reduced cooldown on their spells by performing perfect dodges. The Galeguard greaves in particular have a unique effect that when performing 3 Perfect dodges in a row, you get a brief window to recover mana.
So, if you’re the type of player that likes to parry in souls-like games, there’s a build that offers that playstyle to you.
Furthermore, there is a skill tree upgrade for the Immobilize spell that gives you some parry-like mechanics. The skill tree under Immobilize called Evanescence extends the duration of the Immobilize spell massively. However, you can only do that if you land the Immobilize spell right as the enemy snakes an attack.
Keep in mind that Immobilize has an animation to it, so, it makes the parry-like mechanic of it slightly harder to do. But, once again, there are certainly playstyles that give you a parry feeling in Black Myth Wukong.
