Origins and Early Years

FC Internazionale Milano, commonly known as Inter Milan, was founded in 1908 by a group of Italian and Swiss footballers in Milan, Italy. The club's original name was Football Club Internazionale, reflecting its intention to be an inclusive club open to players of all nationalities. Inter quickly established itself as a major force in Italian football, winning its first Serie A title in 1910.

Golden Era

The 1950s and 1960s were a golden era for Inter Milan, as the club won numerous trophies under the leadership of legendary manager Helenio Herrera. The team featured iconic players such as Giuseppe Meazza, Sandro Mazzola, and Giacinto Facchetti, and became known for its innovative and successful "Catenaccio" defensive system. Inter won three European Cups (now UEFA Champions League) during this period, in 1964, 1965, and 1966.

Modern Era

After a period of decline in the 1970s and 1980s, Inter Milan returned to prominence in the late 1990s under the ownership of Massimo Moratti. The club won the UEFA Cup in 1991 and 1994, and the Serie A title in 1989 and 2006. Under the management of José Mourinho, Inter achieved a historic treble in 2010, winning the Serie A, Coppa Italia, and UEFA Champions League.

Recent Years

In recent years, Inter Milan has continued to compete at the highest level in Italian and European football. The club has won the Serie A title four more times, in 2009, 2010, 2021, and 2023. Inter has also won the Coppa Italia seven times since 2005 and the Supercoppa Italiana six times.
